Polini dominates the first edition of the FAI World Paramotor Endurance Championship
New challenge for Polini Motori; in August it took part to the first edition of the FAI World Paramotor Endurance Championship in England, on the Mandson Airport, west coast.
A new competition formula, different from all the other rankings, with a real “Endurance” challenge that saw Polini Thor engine between the best ones.
Thor 202, with its power, high autonomy and low consumption has been the prefect engine for this kind of challenges where the pilots are involved on long distances and timing.
With hard conditions, strong wind, Polini Thor engines’ pilots dominated both the PL1 (trike) with Glenn Michelland in first position, and Federic Mallard in second position, and the PF1 (foot launch) with Morgane Plantone.
Glenn Michelland:
“After being French Champion in 2023 I’d like to concretize becoming World Champion. I trained a lot, and I modified my equipment to be in the best conditions to take part to this new format. The weather conditions were not very good anyway I was able to run a good championship.
The competition started very hard, with 5h flying. I put 3 races together, when usually I just make 1 for each flight. The first race was very good, then, passing the hours, the concentration decreased, and it became always more difficult because I was not used to do it. In the afternoon I flew 2 hours with very hard conditions and due to the fatigue, I made some errors and I was obliged to recover them. At the end of the first day, I had on my shoulders 5 hours of flight and I was dead tired.
During the week I was sometimes first and sometimes second, very closed to my compatriot, with its Thor 202 too. The last day, during the last slot, we had to fly as much as possible with the lowest quantity of fuel ……….I knew that this was my race but anyway I was anxious. When I opened the window there were gusts of wind: I was ready, but I made a mistake when taking off. I was scared of having broken some parts, but luckily it was not. The second time I took off and after more than 1h and half with 2 kg of fuel, I have been informed that I won the competition. Some minutes after my take off, the race director stopped the race and some pilots could not take off. I waited till the end for the final correction of the timing because I didn’t want to declare my victory before being sure.
After 24h of suspense and only a few minutes before the award ceremony, we received the final ranking. I open the file, and I read my Victory! 3 years later my first competition, I‘m world Champion!
